Following the Path of Excitement
I sit at my desk, drawn by an invisible pull, a quiet excitement that rises from deep within. Writing isn’t just something I do; it’s an extension of who I am. As my fingers move across the keys, the world outside dissolves. Time fades, and I am immersed in the unfolding flow of words. This isn’t work. It’s joy. It’s alignment. It’s a moment where the boundaries between who I am and what I create vanish completely, leaving only the pure act of expression.
When I write, I’m reminded of my essence. The stories I create seem to find their own rhythm, emerging effortlessly like waves kissing the shore. Each sentence feels like a discovery, revealing fragments of myself that I didn’t know were there. When the flow is effortless, it feels like a gentle river guiding me, each bend and turn as natural as breathing. But if I force myself to push through, ignoring the subtle cues of my body and mind, frustration creeps in like an unwelcome guest. That’s when I know I need to pause, step away, and breathe. Resting is as much a part of the process as writing itself, an essential balance that keeps the creative spark alive.
I’ve learned to recognize the moments when expectation tries to sneak in, whispering that I should be further ahead or doing more. It’s easy to get caught up in the race, to feel like every action needs to have a measurable outcome. But those whispers no longer hold power over me. Instead, I lean into a simple tool that I’m rediscovering: slowing down.
Slowing down is an art, one I once mastered but am now relearning. It’s the conscious choice to sip tea slowly, feeling its warmth spread through my hands and noticing how the steam dances in the air. It’s the quiet act of watching my children’s faces, memorizing the way their eyes light up as they share a story, the way their laughter rings like a melody. It’s typing each word deliberately, savoring the sound of the keys and the way ideas unfold naturally. In slowing down, I return to the present, to the now, where everything I need is already here. Each deliberate action becomes a meditation, a reminder that the journey is just as important as the destination.
These tools, once tucked away and forgotten, are finding their way back into my daily life. I know that rushing leads nowhere, and time, so often a source of pressure, is just an illusion. When I choose presence, the path unfolds naturally, with synchronicities aligning in ways that feel almost magical. I’ve come to see time not as a constraint but as a canvas, one where I can paint each moment with intention and care.
As Bashar says, excitement is the compass. Following it with no insistence on the outcome transforms every moment into an opportunity for joy. Writing, for me, is the clearest expression of this principle. It’s where I find myself again and again. And so, I write, not for a result, not to prove anything, but because it feels like home. In those moments, I’m not chasing anything. I’m simply being, creating, existing in a space that feels timeless and infinite.
What brings you home? What sparks your excitement? Is it a craft, a passion, or perhaps a quiet moment of reflection? Follow it. Let it guide you. Trust in its wisdom, and see where it takes you. There is no rush, no race to the finish. Life unfolds perfectly when we allow ourselves to flow with it. So take a step, no matter how small, toward what lights you up. And as you do, remember: the journey itself is the reward.
